PE Update

PE Update

Last week

Although we only had three days of school last week, they were action packed for the PE Department.  Wednesday saw all the Year 3 students participate in Football Clinics run by the South West Football Development Officer, Nathan Douch.  On Thursday, a range of classes enjoyed a visit from Kate Bevilaqua and Guy Crawford, who are both professional athletes on the Ironman Circuit.  The classes had an interactive introduction to Triathlon and the opportunity to improve some of their cycling and running transition skills.  Friday saw the three Senior classes at the Interschool Summer Carnival in Busselton, with students competing against the other local Primary schools in Volleyball, Cricket, T-Ball and Basketball.  These opportunities ensure we continue to enrich our program here at school and provide students with different activities in which to develop their skills.

Interschool Summer Carnival

Thank you to all the staff, students and parents who made the Dunsborough PS participation at this Carnival such a success.

Mr Lowe coordinated the T-Ball competition and Ms Kingsbury coached our teams throughout the term.  Thank you to our parent volunteers at the T-Ball, Paula Green,

Mrs Radice coached our Basketball teams through the term and was joined by team coaches Phil McCormack, Bruce Taylor and Glenn Clark at the Carnival.  Thank you to our other parent volunteers, Nadia Cocker

Mrs Thomson coached our Volleyball teams through the term and was joined by Fiona Brown, Catherine Reid and Tiffany Moore on the beachfront on Friday.

I had the pleasure of working with the Cricket teams and would like to thank Mike Braimbridge and Regina Vock for their assistance on the day.

All our teams were commended for their high levels of sportsmanship and a number were unbeaten throughout the day or only lost to another DPS team!  Term 2 will see the Senior students training for the Winter Carnival, with teams competing in Hockey, Football, Soccer and Netball.

Coles Sports for Schools Vouchers

Thank you to all the members of our school community who have supported this program.  All collected vouchers now need to be sent back and will be packaged this week.  Please send any remaining vouchers that you have collected to school this week. We have collected over 100,000 vouchers, a huge effort and we will now start to compile the 'wish list'.

Sporting Schools Term 2 Gymnastics

We have once again been successful in gaining funding from Sporting Schools and in Term 2 will run a Gymnastics program before school on Tuesday mornings for students in Years 1, 2 and 3.  Further information and the application form are attached to this Newsletter.
